Itron Utility Week closed with great fanfare. Attendees exited the last sessions of the day and flooded into the nearby convention hall to watch a time-lapse recap of the entire event.

Itron’s Sharelynn Moore, vice president, corporate marketing and public affairs, thanked IUW attendees for their continued support and engagement. As a collaborative forum for industry leaders and peers, the event would not be the same without the dedication of our advisory board (composed of member utilities) and the contributions of presenters, from all corners of the industry, who volunteer their time to share best practices, trends and updates.

To much applause, Moore revealed that next year’s Itron Utility Week will be held in San Antonio, Texas. Back to the lone star state.

A reception followed. It was a sea of utilities, partners and Itron representatives of every type. A true mixer with animated discussions, handshakes and laughter. We reached out to a few groups to try to capture the mood in print. Here’s what our stroll turned up:

“Being a first-timer, I didn’t know what to expect. You guys are great. Here I feel like I can approach anybody.”
-Gregory Schroeder, City of Garland

“Everything I wanted to learn, I learned. Plus more.”
-Wayne Paul, West Parkland Gas Co-op

“Not at all what I expected. I would recommend to anyone in distribution. Not what I thought of Itron. Not just a metering company.”
-JP Knauss, National Grid

“I liked the smart grid classes. That’s where we aspire to go—how-to’s are helpful. In some cases, we are helping others. Other times, they’re helping us.”
-Jacob Flowers, Gulf Power

"This year was more interactive, hands-on, practical."
-Larry Logan, Florida Light and Power
