DISTRIBUTECH 2023: Exploring the Possibilities for a More Reliable and Resilient Grid

January 30, 2023

The road to resourcefulness is paved with more intelligence and more possibilities. The need to provide safe, dependable and resilient services is greater than ever as aging infrastructure, the emergence of electric vehicles (EVs) and distributed energy resources (DERs) continue to drive transformation throughout the utility industry. With the right insights, in the right places, cities and utilities across the globe can achieve better management of energy, water and city services.

At DISTRIBUTECH 2023, the utility industry's leading transmission and distribution conference, attendees will have the opportunity to experience what's possible from Itron's proven portfolio of intelligent devices, smart, foundational networks, and software and services that deliver the right outcomes for utilities and cities. Visit us in booth 2514 on Feb. 7-9 in San Diego, California to learn more.

Solutions We Are Showcasing in Booth 2514:

  • Low-Voltage Network Management: Check out the Itron Experience theater to see how Itron solutions lend insight into the least visible part of the distribution system and in the most cost-effective way possible—by enabling visibility both in front of and behind the meter without the need for additional, costly sensors placed throughout the distribution system.
  • Distributed Intelligence (DI): DI uses applications that run in the meter or other devices and utilizes analytics to provide near real-time situational awareness and localized control. This insight and control provide significant value on top of the operational benefits gained from an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network.
    • Applications include Active Premise Load Shedding, Active Temperature Monitoring, Active Transformer Load Monitoring, Active Transformer Voltage Monitoring, EV Awareness, High Impedance Detection, Location Awareness, Meter Bypass Detection, Solar Awareness
  • Smart Cities: The combination of our network, software and partner ecosystem solutions enable innovative and effective solutions for municipalities and utilities. Cities and utilities can provide intelligent transportation services, deploy resilient and sustainable infrastructure, offer digital services to engage citizens across the community, and enhance safety and security—all with solutions from Itron.
  • The Itron Partner Ecosystem: The Itron Partner Ecosystem brings together a network of people and companies who are driven to solve problems and innovate rapidly in ways that improve resource efficiencies, enhance safety and connect communities. Itron's advanced technology and global footprint offers a unique foundation for customers and partners to solve key business challenges, drive revenue and deliver new services. And our robust developer program enables aspiring entrepreneurs to deliver added value to utilities and smart cities.
  • Distribution Automation (DA): Utilities and cities can enhance resiliency and reliability, optimize grid monitoring and operations, simplify renewable integration and accelerate storm response and recovery. With DA solutions deployed across the network—including sensors, processors, data and communication networks—combined with switches and other distribution equipment in the field, utilities can collect, automate, analyze and optimize data to improve the operational efficiency of the power distribution system.
  • Distributed Energy Management: The ability to integrate renewables and EVs is rapidly accelerating—and increasingly important. Optimize the benefits of DERs and EVs while ensuring overall grid reliability with solutions from Itron. By leveraging multiple pieces of the Itron portfolio—including our distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) platform, AMI, Itron networks, forecasting, analytics and turnkey customer services—our distributed energy management (DEM) solutions help better measure, monitor and orchestrate DERs and EVs across the grid.
  • Gas Efficiency and Safety: With the ultrasonic/solid-state Intelis gas meter, Itron reimagined what's possible for gas providers and is transforming the traditional one-way gas distribution system into a two-way, interactive energy network. Intelis enables utilities to control gas flow in the event of a fire, natural disaster, open flow valve or whenever excess gas flow is detected. Intelis can detect meter removal and automatically shutoff gas flow as a precautionary measure. Service can be remotely shutoff for non-payment or move-outs at any time over the network—no truck roll required. The Intelis gas meter is half the size and weight of current-generation gas meters.
  • Services: From consulting, delivery and customer support to end-to-end management of individualized Itron solutions, we know our products, we know this industry and we know our customers. They want reduced risk and high reward. They want a partner they can trust who'll meet their commitments. With Itron Global Services, customers get the experience they need, the support they expect, and the certainty they chose the best in the business. We stand by our guarantees of delivering outcomes, both on time and within budget—efficiently, economically, effectively.
