Itron Advances Meter Data Management Capabilities, Supports Big Data for Smart Metering

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.—March 28, 2013—Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today a new release of Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE), Itron's industry-leading, enterprise-wide data management solution for smart metering. The new release features streamlined, high-volume processing capabilities and a significantly reduced data storage footprint, which lowers the total cost of ownership of meter data management (MDM) for electricity, gas and water utilities of all sizes. This release further improves Itron's mature MDM competencies, simplifying and speeding deployment.

IEE is pre-integrated with Itron Analytics solutions so that utilities can easily add Itron Analytics modules, such as energy diversion and transformer load management, enabling the creation of actionable intelligence from smart metering data. The new version of IEE supports Microsoft's SQL Server 2012 database and Oracle 11g platforms. It also includes Itron's SAP Meter Data Unification System (MDUS) module, which is compatible with SAP Enhancement Pack 6. Seamlessly upgradable, the 8.1 release supports all previous releases of IEE MDM.

"Itron is taking the advancement of MDM and analytics to the next level by enabling utilities to quickly and easily create actionable intelligence from smart metering data," said Mark de Vere White, president, electricity at Itron. "With this enterprise platform, utilities can derive greater value from their smart distribution investments."

"By releasing IEE 8.1 on SQL Server 2012, Itron is providing utilities with a modern data platform with built-in mission critical capabilities, unparalleled security, breakthrough and predictable performance and scalability ready to meet the most demanding utility big data requirements," said Jon Arnold, managing director, Worldwide Power & Utilities Industry at Microsoft.
