Tampa Electric Co. is committed to improving reliability and restoration efforts across its service territory—and to transforming the customer experience. TECO has deployed an Itron AMI solution with distributed intelligence that includes 260,000 smart photocells and 750,000 DI-enabled meters with DI applications to detect high impedance, broken neutrals and theft. Over 90% of their meters have been installed to date and in lab tests, DI detected 100% of events with zero false positives (compared to back-office analytics).
