Tom Deitrich was appointed president and chief executive officer and named to Itron's board of directors in August 2019. He joined Itron in 2015 as executive vice president and COO and has played a major role in shaping the company’s strategy to partner with cities and utilities to deliver industrial IoT solutions.
Tom has more than 25 years of experience in global operations at leading technology firms and has held numerous executive management positions where he led business-level strategies that transformed and significantly improved business results. He has extensive experience in product management, research and development, supply chain management and business development in several industries, including industrial equipment, telecommunications and semiconductors. Tom is a member of the GridWise Alliance Grid Infrastructure Advisory Council.
Before joining Itron, Tom was senior vice president and general manager for Digital Networking at Freescale Semiconductor. Prior to Freescale, Tom worked for Flextronics International, Ericsson Mobile Communications and General Electric Corporation.
Joan HooperSenior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Joan Hooper joined Itron as senior vice president and chief financial officer in June 2017. In this role, she leads Itron’s financial functions including financial planning, reporting, tax, treasury, and investor relations. In addition, she oversees corporate development, strategy and information technology (IT) tools and processes.
Joan has more than 40 years of experience in finance and accounting leadership roles. Most recently, she served as the CFO of CHC Helicopter, a helicopter services company headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia from 2011 to 2015. Prior to CHC, she held several finance executive positions at Dell, Inc. from 2003 to 2010, including vice president and CFO for its Global Public and Americas business units, vice president of corporate finance and chief accounting officer. Joan also was CFO of FreeMarkets, a provider of procurement tools and services, which she helped take public in 1999. In addition, she held a variety of senior finance positions at AT&T.
Joan holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Creighton University. She also has an MBA with an emphasis in finance and international business from Northwestern University.
Chris WareSenior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Chris Ware has more than 25 years of experience as a senior legal advisor and business executive. He was promoted to Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at Itron in March 2023. In this role, he is responsible for Itron's corporate governance, business legal solutions and risk management. Chris joined Itron in March 2021 as Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer and most recently served as Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary.
Before joining Itron, Chris served as executive director and general manager at Johnson Controls International (JCI). Before that position Chris occupied numerous senior legal roles within JCI, the U.S. Attorney's Office, Department of Justice and several private law firms.
Chris received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Chris has served as a Board Member for Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority and Alverno College. He is a former president of the Wisconsin Association of African American Lawyers.
Michel CadieuxSenior Vice President, Human Resources
Michel Cadieux has worked in human resources his entire career—more than 30 years—for global technology and manufacturing companies, including Betz Laboratories, the Hudson Bay Company, ING Bank of Canada, Advanced Micro Devices/ATI and Freescale. Before coming to lead Itron's worldwide HR department in 2014, he was senior vice president at Freescale Semiconductor in Austin, TX.
Throughout his career, Michel has demonstrated exceptional ability as an agent of change and a strategic business partner, helping companies to scale, grow and globalize.
At Freescale Semiconductor, Michel joined the company at a time when it was faced with serious financial pressure and he led the restructuring and reinvigorating of the workforce, which was a contributing factor in 2008 to a return to public markets and growth.
Michel holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and personnel, and a certificate in business administration from the University of Ottawa. He also completed the managing human resources program from Queen's University's Executive Development in Ontario, Canada.
Business Unit Leadership
John MarcoliniSenior Vice President, Networked Solutions
John Marcolini has more than 20 years of product management, business development and customer delivery experience with deep technical knowledge of networking, radio frequency technologies and IoT. John has also spent many years working with utility customers to deliver and implement complex product deployments.
In July 2020, he was named senior vice president of networked solutions. As the head of Itron’s Networked Solutions product business unit, he is responsible for the financial performance, product development, marketing and overall strategy for Itron’s networking platforms and smart city solutions, globally.
In his previous role as the vice president of product management, he was responsible for product strategy and lifecycle management across Itron’s smart energy, smart city and IoT portfolios. Prior to joining Itron, John held senior product management roles with Silver Spring Networks and numerous other technology-based companies.
John attended Boston University’s Master of Science in Networking and Security program and received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from SUNY College at Buffalo.
Justin Patrick has 20 years of experience as a successful management and leadership professional in the operations, manufacturing, engineering, service, technology and consumer industries, globally. He joined Itron as senior vice president of device solutions in January 2020. In this role, Justin is responsible for the financial performance, product development, marketing and overall strategy for Itron’s foundational products and devices, globally. Prior to joining Itron, Justin was vice president and general manager of the Johnson Controls (JCI) Residential Ducted HVAC business and previously served in various leadership roles at the company.
Prior to Johnson Controls, Justin held multiple sales and leadership roles at Carrier Corporation. Previously, he was an officer in the U.S. Navy. Justin holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Don ReevesSenior Vice President, Outcomes
Don Reeves was named senior vice president of Itron's Outcomes business in September 2019. Previously, Don led Itron's Services and Delivery organization before it was combined with the Outcomes business line. In his new role, Don is responsible for the financial performance, product development, marketing and overall strategy for Itron’s delivery teams, managed services operations and outcomes-focused software and services offerings on a global basis.
Don has more than 25 years of experience in high-technology leadership. Reeves joined Itron in January 2018 as a part of Itron’s acquisition of Silver Spring Networks, where he served as chief technology officer, launched the company's hosting business, led the worldwide delivery organization and led the R&D and managed services teams.
Don received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
