Silver Spring Networks and Metrix Selected by Trustpower for Advanced Metering Program in New Zealand
Multi-Application Network to Help Enable More Consumer Choice, and Improve Quality of Service, for Over 225,000 Customers Across New Zealand
Auckland, New Zealand and Redwood City, CA – March 2, 2015 – Silver Spring Networks (NYSE: SSNI) today announced that Silver Spring has been selected by Metrix, a leading metering service provider and a division of Mighty River Power, to partner with Metrix in delivering Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) services for Trustpower, an electricity generator and energy and telecommunications retailer serving over 225,000 customers across New Zealand. The deployment will leverage Silver Spring’s multi-application, standards-based IPv6 networking platform and deliver two-way communications.“Silver Spring is proud to be a preferred technology partner to Metrix, enabling Metrix to provide a leading multi-application service to its customers, such as Trustpower,” said Andrew Vlachiotis, Vice President of Asia-Pacific Sales, Silver Spring Networks. “We look forward to extending our presence in New Zealand to help bring customers more choice and a higher level of service through smart grid applications.”
“Silver Spring’s standards-based platform offers Metrix and its customers flexibility from an operational standpoint, while also offering the opportunity for Metrix to grow our capabilities over time to potentially include additional services for electricity providers, such as load disaggregation, and other services for water utilities and for smart city services such as intelligent street lights,” said Matt Olde, CEO of Metrix.
This furthers the joint deployment in New Zealand by Silver Spring and Metrix, with Silver Spring’s platform being utilized by Metrix in the Northpower and Wellington Electricity networks to deliver services to retailer Mercury Energy, as well as delivering smart metering-as-a-service to multiple retailers alongside distribution network owner, Counties Power.
