Making the most of our planet’s electricity, gas and water resources is what drives us every day at Itron—being resourceful is central to who we are and what we do as a company. With this call to resourcefulness in mind, Itron is pleased to announce the release of its latest Corporate Sustainability Report (CSR).
The report confirms Itron's commitment to developing business practices and solutions that are both sustainable and beneficial to our customers, our company and our communities around the world. This commitment—which includes a renewed focus on environmental stewardship at all of our worldwide locations; increased recycling and conservation activities; and programs to reduce water and energy consumption in our operations—highlights Itron's effort to reduce its carbon footprint while staying dedicated to delivering innovative technology to our customers to help create a more resourceful world.
"Nearly four decades ago, our company was founded on the belief that ‘there has to be a better way,’ that our utility customers could be more effective and efficient with our energy and water resources,” said Itron President and CEO Philip Mezey. “From its earliest days, the Itron brand promised to help our customers be more resourceful. As shown in this report, that promise is stronger than ever.”
The report follows the internationally-accepted Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines for communicating environmental, economic and social indicators to present how Itron has continued to increase sustainable practices and focus on sustainability. Information is derived using data from 2015, and builds on our previous reports.
