Gulf Power Receives Award at PLMA Conference for Itron Demand Response Program

Florida Utility Recognized with the Program Pacesetter Award for Its Innovative Energy Select Price-Based Demand Response Program

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — April 17, 2018 — Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a world-leading technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water, announced today that its customer, Gulf Power, which serves nearly 500,000 people across Northwest Florida, was awarded the Program Pacesetter Award at the PLMA Spring Conference in San Diego, California. This is the fourth consecutive year that an Itron customer has received this prestigious industry award.

The award reflects the incredible success of Gulf Power’s Energy Select program, a fully-automated price-based demand response program that was designed to reduce generation needs and enhance customer satisfaction. The program has nearly 20,000 participants enrolled with a customer satisfaction rate of 95 percent.

The program has enabled Gulf Power to reduce peak load by 1.2 kilowatts per household in the summer and 1.7 kilowatts in the winter, while also giving participants greater control over their energy usage and bills. For the program, Itron installed smart thermostats and load control switches, and manages the system through IntelliSOURCE® Enterprise™, a cloud-based software solution that automates every phase of the program.
