Itron, a world-leading technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water, is excited to participate alongside Qualcomm, a world leader in 3G, 4G and next-generation wireless technologies, at CES on the Hill on April 19. CES on the Hill is an invitation-only event to showcase top technology trends to members of Congress, their staff and media.
At the event, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., and Itron will showcase the Itron Solar Gate, an innovative upcoming new device that features embedded Itron Riva™ technology and a Qualcomm® 4G LTE modem with an integrated application processor. The Itron Solar Gate brings together solar production data and premise consumption data while providing granular data on the health of the solar panel relative to its surrounding environmental variables. These cross-correlations and advanced capabilities enable solar leasing companies and consumers to better understand the performance of the installed solar panels. The Solar Gate can also enable devices such as EV chargers and on-premise storage to request overproduced solar energy rather than arbitrarily reducing production and can assure greater grid reliability by not introducing the excess solar energy onto the grid.
The Itron Solar Gate is one of the latest developments from Itron Idea Labs and is expected to be available later this year. Itron Idea Labs is dedicated to developing new business opportunities in high-growth industries and emerging markets. The Itron Solar Gate is a great example of how Itron Idea Labs has worked closely with customers and partners to address a problem and define new solutions at a faster pace.
